Open Day 21 March 2010

Today’s Open Day, organised on the first day of Spring, was a huge success.  The day dawned with perfect weather conditions promising a day full of positive expectations and achievements. Many people and Committees from other clubs turned up at our new premises to see the progress of this building and renovation project.  Guided tours around the premises, a concert organised by the Junior Choir and Orchestra, performances by other students and musicians, an art exhibition by Mr Gilbert Fenech and Mr Lewis Zammit, and members wearing traditional costumes throughout the day were the highlights of this special day.  A projector showing clips and photos of the works at the building site carried out in the last months was also another innovation during this open day.  Furthermore, the club’s new website www.choirandorchestra.org was also launched on this day.

Those who came to visit the club appreciated the works carried out and gave their moral and financial support through donations and their presence.  In a few words, it was a celebration of a whole year of hard work by our members.  The satisfaction and sense of pride on our members’ faces was so evident and justified.  This is only the first phase of the project.  From this experience we know that with this team effort and our members’ motivation and dedication we can start working on the second phase and finish it successfully.

On behalf of the Committee of the Choral and Orchestral ‘Maria Bambina’ we would like to thank all those members who gave their input and effort for making this Open Day a success. We would also like to thank those who attended and the local media for their input.

Meanwhile, on the evening’s TVM news ran a three minute feature about the Open Day and the Choral and Orchestral Society ‘Maria Bambina’ in general. You can view this feature in the following video. Please note that in the clip it is mentioned that the art exhibition was by Mr George Fenech and Mr Louis Zammit, when in fact, it was by Mr Gilbert Fenech and Mr Lewis Zammit.
